Background

I trained at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama and have spent the last decade-plus making theatre, performance, digital and live work — as a magician, as a director, as a maker, and as a producer. Most of what I have learned about British theatre I learned from doing it. Spoken Record is where I document my findings.

The publication

Spoken Record is a publication of opinion, commentary, and reporting. It carries no editorial positions, some posts are arguments, some are letters, some are accounts of things I have witnessed that, in my view, should be on the record.

Independence

There is no one else here. There is no commercial sponsor, no parent organisation, no funded research grant. The site is published independently and the writing reflects only my own views. Conflicts of interest, where they exist, are declared in the piece itself.
